Ford's sustainability efforts have set a high bar in the industry. They recently reminded us that Ford's purpose “has always been bigger than building vehicles.” Their vision is to foster a “better world” long into the future, and they're starting today with tangible sustainability initiatives.
Ford's Goal for Carbon Neutrality
Ford has outlined a firm target for carbon neutrality: 2050. By that date, they intend for all manufacturing sites and their entire supply chain to operate carbon-neutral. And it isn't just talk—every day brings new steps toward that objective.
In its 2025 Integrated Sustainability and Financial Report, Ford offered a comprehensive evaluation of its sustainability journey. They believe you don't reach ambitious targets simply by dreaming—you must measure progress. Their analysis ensures they stay on course for the 2050 goal.
Highlights from the report reveal noteworthy achievements: Ford has cut its global operations' greenhouse-gas output by nearly half since 2017. Over the past four years, they've launched 15 new electric and plug-in hybrid models, reducing emissions around the world. Today, more than 80 of their sites achieve zero-waste-to-landfill status.
Ford's philanthropic programs further its mission to improve lives. The company has supported international disaster relief—responding to Hurricanes Milton and Helene—and pledged $9 million to West Tennessee through the Good Neighbor Plan, benefiting local communities and spurring innovation in Detroit.
Ford is only at the beginning. With ramped-up giving and sustainability measures, we expect their momentum to grow even stronger in the years ahead.
