What Should I Do If There is a Recall for my Vehicle?
Although it is reasonable to have concerns about a recall, there is never a reason to panic. A recall can be identified by the manufacturer for a wide spectrum of safety issues, which could include the braking system, steering, ignition, electrical or even the tires. Don't be alarmed if the recall is for a part or repair that is seemingly insignificant. Often times, the manufacturer sends a recall letter because it's been determined that a particular part needs to be enhanced for safety reasons or effectiveness. A recall should never be ignored. The staff at our service center is equipped with all the necessary resources to provide you with more details. We also have factory-trained technicians who are not only very familiar with the specific recall, but they also have the precise knowledge to perform the recall accurately.
You should read the recall letter completely while also making sure the contact information and vehicle information is correct. You might want to also make a copy of the recall letter or upload it to your computer for safekeeping and your records.
Within the letter, you will be advised to take your vehicle to the nearest authorized Ford dealer. Don't procrastinate! It's very easy to push it aside, and forget, which is a mistake. You should contact the dealer immediately and schedule your recall appointment. Be sure to add a calendar alert in your phone as a reminder of the appointment. If you receive a recall while you're in the process of selling your car or transferring it to a new owner, make an attempt to have the recall completed prior to completing the sale or transfer of ownership. One of the primary reasons a recall remains outstanding is due to not being completed by the original owner of the vehicle.
Do I Have to Pay for Recall Repairs?
You are not responsible for any costs for the recall repairs, updates, or replacement parts that are involved in completing the recall. Frontier Ford will complete the recall on the behalf of the manufacturer. However, it's important to note, if there are any repairs involved which are outside of the recall, they may not be covered. Although it is a rare occurrence, it is something that happens and you will be advised prior to being billed. We fully understand that a recall comes with a lot of concerns and unanswered questions. The staff at Frontier Ford is prepared to offer any feedback and recommendations regarding your recall and get your vehicle back on the road safely!
