Ford Expedition Review for 2016 Model Year
The 2016 Ford Expedition receives very little updates for the new model year. Following a revamp in 2015, the full-size SUV now comes with a hearty twin-turbo V6 engine, fresh styling modifications that enhance its classic boxy shape and new suspension options that boost its overall driving dynamics. For 2016, the three-row utility vehicle continues to come in regular and extended wheelbases, which are offered in four trim levels: XLT, Limited, King Ranch and Platinum. Ford's all-new SYNC 3 infotainment system has also found its way onto the latest model, improving connectivity while on the go. A turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine powers the 2016 Ford Expedition in Santa Clara. Generating 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, the displacement is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission that also has manual-shift capabilities. In addition to offering a first-class powertrain, the Expedition can tow up to 9,200 pounds and is available in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. It can even go from 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds, which is a fast time for a vehicle in its segment.
One of the biggest highlights on the 2016 Ford Expedition in Santa Clara is the addition of SYNC 3 technology. Replacing the previously available MyFord Touch system, SYNC 3 is intuitive, responsive and easy-to-use. Similar to the outgoing system, SYNC 3 allows drivers to stay connected while traveling by providing hands-free calling, Bluetooth audio streaming, voice recognition, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and music search and control. It's a must-have feature for modern drivers living in the digital age.
