What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer?

The Ford Explorer has long been a favored choice for three-row SUVs, and with a few updates for the 2025 model year, it's now better than ever. The Explorer's exterior and interior have been updated to remain current and competitive. The 2025 Explorer now sports a restyled front and rear end. Inside, it features a refreshed cabin, including a Google-powered infotainment system. Some trims also include BlueCruise.

What Trims & Features Are Available for the 2025 Explorer?

The 2025 Ford Explorer is available in four trims.

The base trim is known as the Active. It includes numerous features, such as three-zone climate control, heated front seats with multiple adjustments, keyless entry, keyless ignition, and captain's chairs in the second row to seat up to seven. On the technology front, the Active offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Google voice commands and navigation, a digital instrument panel, and a six-speaker sound system. It rides on 18-inch wheels and includes a power liftgate and LED lighting. An optional package brings a heated steering wheel, remote start, a more adjustable front passenger seat, and synthetic leather seating.

The ST-Line trim gets a more distinct exterior with additional interior enhancements. It boasts a sportier look, including a black grille, black lower body cladding, darker headlamps, and darker taillights. The ST-Line also rides on larger 20-inch wheels and has black synthetic leather seats with red stitching. It comes with additional safety features and a premium B&O sound system with ten speakers.

The ST trim upgrades to 21-inch wheels and adds ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seating.

The Platinum trim comes with a dual-pane sunroof, leather seats, a 14-speaker sound system, and adaptive headlights.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2025 Explorer Offer?

The base engine for the Explorer is a 2.3L four-cylinder, producing 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The ST is powered by a 3.0L turbocharged V6, which generates 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. It is optional on the Platinum trim.
