The Ford Mustang just got another big honor: the Women’s Performance Car of the Year 2016 award.

The iconic car is equally beloved by both women and men, and this award proves that the ladies are just as impressed with the Mustang's high-octane performance and fantastic driving feel as their male counterparts.

There were over 294 models competing for the award with 17 judges from 14 countries looking at the car’s performance capabilities, as well as its interior features and technology. The Focus RS was also a favorite with the panel, coming in second.

“Ford Mustang is surprisingly loved by women who are after a sexy, sporty, masculine car that turns heads,” said Juliet Potter, Women’s World Car of the Year jury member from Australia. “Combining the car’s silver-screen celebrity status with real-life practicality, Mustang screams, ‘I am in control!’ and delivers the same behind the wheel with above-average grip and suspension.”

The 2016 Ford Mustang features three terrific engine options: a 2.3-liter EcoBoost that produces 310 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque, a 5.0-liter V8 that outputs 435 horses and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, and the legendary Shelby GT350’s 5.2-liter V8 engine that generates an outstanding 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque.
