With numerous commercial vehicles covering extensive distances daily on North American roads, the electrification of these fleets holds significant environmental advantages. A key impediment to businesses embracing fleet electrification has been the insufficient infrastructure. Ford Pro has recently collaborated with Xcel Energy to substantially increase the availability of charging stations. Moreover, businesses in specific states stand to gain from alleviating fees linked to upgrading their fleets.
Xcel Energy's Electric Vehicle Supply Infrastructure plan explicitly outlines the creation of 30,000 new chargers by 2030, directly addressing concerns about access to charging stations. While many fleet operators intend for their electric vehicles (EVs) to be charged at their proprietary stations, the installation cost of these stations often proves prohibitive. Consequently, the new plan encompasses reimbursement for charger installation costs and post-installation support for businesses. This reimbursement is available in Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Potential additions to the program in the near future include Texas, South Dakota, North Dakota, New Mexico, and Michigan. Ford Pro will also provide access to Ford Pro Telematics and Ford Pro Intelligence for enhanced fleet management.
