SUV shoppers who are looking for their next family car should look no further than the 2015 Ford Explorer in Santa Clara. This model year, the popular SUV is getting an all-new Appearance package, as well as a few changes to its standard and optional features. Keep reading our 2015 Ford Explorer review for all the details on this terrific family SUV.
The 2015 Explorer comes in four trim levels: base, XLT, Limited and Sport. Standard features on the base trim include automatic headlights, roof rails, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a six-speaker sound system and a 4.2-inch display screen. Upgrade to the XLT trim and you'll add rear parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, a keyless entry code pad, Ford's Sync system, satellite radio, upgraded brakes and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Drivers can add a few packages to the XLT trim, such as the 201A, 202A and the new Appearance package.
The Limited trim adds keyless ignition and entry, power-adjustable pedals, driver memory settings, remote engine start and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. For more luxury amenities, drivers can add the 301A and 302A packages. The Explorer Sport model comes with similar features as the Limited trim, but with more sport amenities, including unique 20-inch alloy wheels, front sport seats, a sport-tuned suspension and a unique interior trim. We recommend adding the 401A package to the Sport trim, as it adds the most luxury amenities, such as a navigation system, a heated steering wheel, more safety features, ventilated front seats and a power liftgate.
The 2015 Explorer is powered by two engine options: a standard 3.5-liter V6 and turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine on the Sport model. Our 2015 Ford Explorer review recommends the Sport trim for several reasons, including its turbocharged engine that puts out 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
