Tech-savvy drivers are going to love the 2020 F-150. New features include a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, so passengers can connect devices and enjoy a strong internet connection on any highway. Advanced driver safety aids are now grouped into packages, with the Co-Pilot360 bundle standard on the Lariat and up. There are also some new appearance packages available for the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims to keep the F-150 looking stylish.
Choose from six nicely equipped F-150 trim models: the base XL, midlevel XLT, classy Lariat, Western-themed King Ranch, stylish Platinum, and top-trim Limited. The XL is work-ready, with pre-wired trailer connections and a four-speaker stereo to keep you company. The XLT is a bit more modern, giving you power accessories and Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system.
The Lariat offers both impressive performance and high-end luxury, with leather upholstery and dual-zone climate control. And things get even fancier with the King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims, with each adding extra comfort and convenience features. In addition to its Western-themed saddle brown leather upholstery, the King Ranch adds standard navigation and an 11-speaker stereo system. The Platinum 20-inch wheels and wood-and-aluminum interior trim were designed to impress. The Limited comes standard with upgraded leather upholstery and unique styling details, but it also boosts utility with its bigger gas tank and high-output version of the line's strongest engine.
Behind the strong, dependable performance are five engine options. The base F-150 XL gets things started with a 3.3-liter V6 engine. It generates 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque and uses a six-speed automatic transmission to power the rear wheels. As with any other F-150 powertrain option, you can add the Ford four-wheel-drive system to the XL for help powering through rugged terrain.
If you're looking for all-out towing and hauling power, check out the 5.0-liter V8 or the top-of-the-line turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. Both engines utilize a 10-speed automatic transmission for modern fuel economy and a quick, smooth ride. With its 395 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque, the V8 is an excellent option for moving heavy loads on a daily basis. If you want to push the F-150 to its limits, you need the most powerful engine in the lineup, the turbo 3.5-liter V6. This engine offers two different performance levels. In most F-150 trims, it makes 357 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque. In the off-road-ready Raptor and top-trim Limited, it increases output 450 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque.
On the other hand, you might want to blend the F-150 seamless power with modern fuel economy. In that case, you also have two options. Choose between the turbo 2.7-liter V6 and the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engines. The former gives you 326 horses, 400 pound-feet of torque, and up to 22 mpg combined. With the turbodiesel engine, you've got a lot of towing potential, with 250 horses and 440 pound-feet of torque. Depending on how you configure your F-150, this diesel engine earns up to 30 mpg on the highway.
In terms of high-tech safety, the 2020 F-150 definitely has you covered. Each one of these full-size trucks comes standard with pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. This year, Ford's Co-Pilot360 bundle of driver safety aids is standard on the Lariat trim and up. This bundle includes blind-spot warning and lane-keeping assist, two features that come in handy as you move this big vehicle through heavy traffic.
