Equipped With Numerous Creature Comforts

The five-passenger SUV comes with plenty to appreciate. Offered in SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport trims, it also offers buyers a wide range of choices to better fit their individual needs.

Standard, the EDGE SE comes fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and automatic headlights for added convenience. On the inside, it's loaded with high-end technologies which are usually more commonly found on vehicle with higher price points, as noted by 2018 Ford Edge reviews. Highlights include reclining rear seat backs, Bluetooth, a USB port, voice controls and a six-speaker sound system.

For a bit more, buyers can enjoy additional luxury appointments with the Edge SEL. It comes with dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering, power-adjustable front seats and satellite radio. The model is offered with the available Equipment Group 201A package as well, adding goodies like leather seating, heated front seats, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Stepping up to the Titanium will add even more amenities from ambient interior lighting and power-adjustable steering to a premium Sony-branded stereo system. The Sport version comes with the Titanium's features plus a firmer suspension, signature styling on the front and rear, and perforated leather upholstery with suede-like trim.

Engine Options

The 2018 Ford Edge in Santa Clara comes with three different engines. For starters, there's a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out a truly impressive 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque (SE). The SEL and Titanium models gain more power with a larger, 3.5-liter V6 that is capable of generating up to 280 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the Sport employs a 2.7-liter V6 turbo which can produce 315 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional on all trims, except the Sport which gets the configuration as standard.

Next-Generation Safety

Every new Edge comes standard with a rearview camera, antilock brakes, seatbelt pretensioners, and traction and stability control. Also included is hill hold assist and Ford's MyKey, which gives parents the ability to set driving parameters for young drivers and valet. Driver-assist technologies, such as rear cross-traffic alert and lane departure warning, are also offered on select trims.
